BiographyAlessandra Woods is a performer, educator, and podcaster currently based in Ravensburg, Germany. She is a founding member of The Woods Duo with guitarist Guy Woodcock, performing regularly in Berlin and across Germany. An active chamber musician, she has also collaborated in long-running ensembles such as Flute3 Adelaide, the Bird in the Woods duo, and chamber groups in Ravensburg, bringing intimate, dynamic performances to diverse audiences.
Her international performance career includes appearances with the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, where she was awarded the prestigious Orchestral Traineeship in 2014. That same year, she was a featured soloist in the finals of the Geoffrey Parsons Award and named International Student of the Year: Artsfor all of South Australia. In 2015, she received a Helpmann Academy Grant and was a casual member of both the Adelaide Wind Orchestra and the Burnside Symphony Orchestra. Alessandra is also featured on several recordings, including David Gillingham’s Symphony No. 2 “Genesis.” Beyond the stage, she co-hosts a The Practice Odyssey podcast exploring music, creativity, and the stories behind performers’ journeys, a project that has cultivated a dedicated following and reflects her commitment to making classical music more accessible and engaging. Her passion for education led her to the Sonlight Enrichment Program, where she taught for four years and founded both the Symphonic Band and Theater Program. These ensembles continue to perform regularly, including at the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival. Alessandra’s formal studies began in the United States as a flutist with the Symphonic Band and Concert Orchestra at the University of North Texas, where she was a member of the Morris, Norris, and Friend’s Woodwind Quintet. She studied under Mary Karen Clardy and Patricia Mills (student of Jean-Pierre Rampal) before completing her postgraduate degree with Elizabeth Koch OAM at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide, South Australia.
